Chris Kjeldsen Pool Upgrades

Chris Kjeldsen Pool Upgrades

Originally constructed in 1973, Chris Kjeldsen Pool has served the University of the Pacific and Stockton communities well for nearly 40 years.

In 2019, a state of the art video board was installed at the facility and a project to move the entranceway to the side of the pool nearest to Larry Keller Drive was completed. Both projects were set into motion to help prepare Chris Kjeldsen Pool to host the 2019 and 2020 Men’s and Women’s Water Polo National Championships.

In 2012, upgrades including the installation of new bleachers along with lights to allow for training and competitions at night.

In 2007, the pool and pool deck underwent a $1.2 million dollar renovation, including a new scoreboard, updated mechanical equipment, and a rim flow gutter system. Additionally, the pool was resurfaced with new siding to make it one of the fastest pools in the west.

Located on the east side of the Chris Kjeldsen Pool, the Pacific Aquatics Center contains 4,000 square feet of space, including coach and lifeguard offices, team locker rooms and showers, and ample storage space to protect swimming pool equipment from the effects of the weather. Completed in 1997 at a cost of approximately $400,000, the facility also provides a safer entry to the pool for physically challenged swimmers and allows control of access for optimum supervision of the pool area.
