STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Tigers announced the date of their annual season-opening banquet, with this year’s festivities set to take place on January 21 in the DeRosa University Center Ballroom. The banquet is a chance for fans and alumni to get to know this year’s Pacific Tigers baseball team and registration is available online.

The festivities will include a raffle and other prizes. The banquet begins just after the Pacific men’s basketball game against BYU, which will tip off at 3:00 pm that day. Cocktail hour and check-in for the banquet begins at 5:30 pm, with dinner held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

“We’re excited to get the season started and this will be a great way for the alumni to connect with all the new players this season,” said Head Coach Mike Neu about the banquet.

This year’s Tigers will feature 21 newcomers playing their first baseball for Pacific as Neu’s very first full recruiting class takes the field. In addition to those newcomers, Pacific will have 2016 WCC home run leader Danny Mayer back in the lineup, along with Nate Verlin, Lucas Halstead and Will Lydon, Pacific’s innings leader in 2016. Over half of Pacific’s runs scored and innings pitched are back this year to help provide some veteran leadership for the new faces.
This will be Neu’s second year as Pacific’s head coach. The Tigers were in the hunt for the WCC tournament until the final weekend last year and ended up with a 12-15 record in the conference. Three Tigers were drafted last year, with both Mayer and closer Vince Arobio electing to return for another year with Pacific while Gio Brusa graduated and is now a part of the San Francisco Giants organization.
